Bleed All About It

      The year 2020 seems to be the year of the reboots as so many older horror films are getting remakes,
reboots and the like.

     Even though it’s only been 16 years since The Grudge was released and itself an American remake,
there is now a re-boot on the way. Even I, the Dark Lord, was NOT a big fan of the 2004 American film as I
saw it in the theater and was not too impressed with it.  Maybe this new 2020 version will hit the spot for
me.  Bringing back old is new again will be a rebooting of the Saw franchise as well.

     Also getting a remake…reboot will be the 1992 horror movie Candyman with Tony Todd returning as
the hook-handed killer we all know and love.  There is also word that there will also be a new Candyman in
the film as well so we have to see how that plays out but it will be good to see Tony back in action after so
many years.  A reboot/sequel for Wrong Turn is also hitting in 2020 as more unsuspecting victims run into
mutant hillbilly killers in the woods.

     One movie I do find interesting is a retelling of the classic TV series Fantasy Island.  You know the
show from the late 70’s where people go to an island to have their fantasy come true.  Well now let’s put a
horror element into the mix and you can see this getting way fucking crazy!  Yeah, this can be good!  A
new installment in The Purge series is set for 2020 release saying that this may be the last.  Yeah, we
heard that before in a horror movie!  Anyway, remember 1984’s Friday The 13th The Final Chapter????

     Also getting follow up movies in 2020 are Escape Room, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and
yes, Michael Myers returns yet again with a follow up to the 2018 reboot of Halloween with Halloween
Kills.  Okay if you say so.

     Even though we just had a reboot of this 30-year series, a new outing for classic Chucky is hitting the
scene in 2020 with two new classic Chucky movies plus…..wait for it…..a TV series!  Not sure yet how a
TV series based on the killer doll will work, but hell, if you’re as old as I am, you still remember Freddy’s
Nightmares TV series.

     And even still, the biggest event we all are waiting for in 2020 and something I have written about here
in Nightmare News for the past three years, the release for Godzilla vs Kong to hit theaters this spring.  
Yeah you know this is going to be big, big….big!
