Bleed All About It

By Dark Soul

Well, three more horror related TV shows have gone off the air and will not be returning for this coming
fall 2018-2019 season. We knew that The Originals were in their last year of production and that was sad
enough because it was a great show and didn’t have to end so early after only five seasons. It didn’t even
match the run of the show it spun off of The Vampire Diaries that ran at least eight seasons. But now with
the loss of The Originals comes the untimely death of Lucifer as well. Yes horror fans, The Fox Network
pulled the plug on Lucifer for reasons unknown after only three seasons and fifty five episodes. Fox also
ended their series The Exorcist as well after just two seasons and twenty episodes.

Over on the CW, they are trying to recapture magic once again as they are, and get this, rebooting
Charmed. Yes, the series about three witch sisters who fight demons and monsters is coming back as a
reboot series twenty years after the original series debuted in 1998. The new series set to begin in the fall
of 2018 follows three new witch sisters as they fight the forces of evil. I saw the trailer for this and ……well I’
m on the fence with this one. After all, the original series ran for eight years with one hundred and seventy
eight episodes and was a great show and will be a hard act to follow. I loved the original series that ran
from 1998 to 2006, so it has some big witches’ shoes to fill. The CW did try a few years after Charmed
ended with another witch series with The Secret Circle in 2011 but it only lasted one season and twenty
two shows in all. Charmed is second only to Supernatural as the longest running horror series of all time.

And speaking of the unstoppable juggernaut that is Supernatural, that show is now not only the longest-
running horror genre series in all of TV history……but now crossing into one of the longest-running series
in all of TV history. Going into its 14th season…..longer than Vampire Diaries and The Originals together
combined, Supernatural even after all this time shows no sign of slowing down. This show just get better
and better every year and seems they can’t make a bad episode. I mean…..what other show can have its
main stars become cartoons and end up on a Scooby Doo episode. And hell, make it work! Even The
Vampire Diaries could not pull that one off and make us love it. Sam and his big brother Dean will most
likely hunt monsters well into season twenty five and we will still tune in each week.

In horror movie remake news, The Fly is again after twenty two years is getting a new movie remake.
Why I don’t know, but it’s coming to a theater near you. Be Afraid……be Very Afaid as the 1986 film will
be a hard act to follow as the 1958 film was a classic to redo. Also getting an update is in the coming year
is Pet Sematary as well. Based on the Stephen King 1983 novel, the first time his book was turned into a
movie was in 1989 and now thirty years later, it’s going to be remade again. True Sci-fi fans remember the
nearly forgotten film Logan’s Run and even lesser remembered TV series that followed its release but
coming soon will be a remake of the 1976 movie.

One movie that I am very much looking forward to seeing is a remake of the 1922 horror masterpiece
Nosferatu with the very scary Max Schreck as Count Orlok. It was once already remade in 1979 with actor
Klaus Kinski stepping in to play the vampire and now there are plans to do it again. Unknown of its release
plans just yet, but I would think that it may open in 2022 to mark the 100th Anniversary of the classic film. I
will keep you posted as I learn more about this remake that I myself am looking forward to.

This October…….he’s BACK! Yes, Michael Myers returns one last time to face Laurie Strode (Jamie
Lee Curtis) forty years since their first encounter. Look For Halloween this October 19th, 2018. Spiderman’
s arch enemy Venom has gotten a movie all his own. That’s right, the black symbiont space creature that
took its form from Spiderman’s own suit is getting his own movie. So what’s next The Green Goblin or
maybe the Lizard? The Puppet Master dolls are back for more killing fun in an all-new movie and this
summer look for Slender Man making his first theatrical release. There have been numerous shorts and
indie films made about this tall looming creature that snatches children but this will be a first Hollywood
theater release for the monster.

The giant killer worms of Tremors are back again for another human feasting, only this time, after
twenty eight years since their debut film in 1990, Kevin Bacon returns. Although there had been four
following films and a TV series based on the creatures, this is the first time Bacon is back to face the
beasts since the first movie in this a new TV series.
