Halloween may be over for yet another year but we here at Blood Moon Rising wanted to bring you our yearly After Halloween fun that we do each year after the ghosts and goblins have all gone to bed for a year long rest. One of the things our publisher always sends me out to do is look for the best and coolest Halloween houses out there. You can see some of them on our web site and now in this issue, the rest of them. These are Halloween fans that take the holiday to new heights with way more than just a paper ghost in the window. Oh no these houses are done up as well as movie sets and have so many monsters standing in your front yards that they are just amazing to see.
But sadly these houses are few and far between but on one block Halloween and horror take center stage. The place is called Nightmare on Romscho Street and its like nothing you had ever seen. Not just one house all spooked up, not two or even three all set up for Halloween with lights, monsters, music, fog and roaming creatures of all kinds but one whole block filled with nothing but Halloween horrors. Its Halloween fans wet dream and this year the block took things to new level when they added concession stands and a full stage set up in the center of the action for rock bands to play. The event ran all Halloween weekend and was a blast to see. They even had Grandpa's coffin dragster from the 60s TV show The Munsters and the 60s batmobile on display.
On Oct. 23rd we at Blood Moon Rising held our annual Halloween horror show Blood Fest: Halloween Show & Rock Party. For this years 7th show we had once again the rock band Decenber's Fall rock the house along with magic performances by Jasper, Dew and RJ and Middle To Nowhere Side Show. There was even a girl who walked on broken glass as part of the acts as well as part of the side show. Wild show in-deed! Then as a real treat for Micael Myer fans we showed the classic 1978 film "Halloween" for all to enjoy. Then after the show was over we held an after party for Blood Moon Rising's 10th Anniversary and had blood punch and other good foods to eat. The event brought in over 260 people (the theater only holds 205) and was our biggest Blood Fest to date. I was this shows on stage host once again and then not on stage hosting the costume and scream contests and other hostly duties I was roaming about scaring the hell out of people as they walked in and out of our Haunted Tunnel. One poor girl never made it into the theater and ran up the steps and out of the place altogether. All and all it was a great show and we look forward to doing Blood Fest 8 this coming Oct. 22nd 2011 where I Dark Soul will be host once again.
On October 31st. Halloween day and night I was asked once again to help our publisher AL J. Vermette spook the trick or treaters that came to his door. Over 400 kids came to us and walked away with a Spook Pop that we gave away. As Dark Soul I made damn sure to make most of the little monsters work for their little candy as most cried and wet themselves.....mothers too as I scared the life out of them. (funny as hell too......you had to be there) The house looked great too with flying ghosts, demons and the 8 foot scarecrow that AL made for Blood Fest standing in the front yard. BMR’s publisher AL was happy and with this being his 29th year of spooking the kids on Halloween it was one of the biggest amounts of trick or treaters he had ever had. He and I look forward to next Halloween when AL will be celebrating his 30th year of being the Halloween man about town.
Well it may be over for another year but it will return this October 31st and with it all the fun, magic and events that this wonderful holiday brings with it. Until then check with the Blood Moon Rising web site for other things we are doing for 2011 and beyond.
