Well, it looks like 2023 is going to be the year of the remake as there are several horror film remakes on the way. First off this may not be happening after all but there was a planned remake (again) for Salem’s Lot. Yeah, you heard it…like the ‘79 classic television mini-series was not good enough, or its mid-90’s TV mini-series remake, but now there’s word on a new one in the works. Although it was said to be in production, now word is that it may not be in the works after all. I guess only time will tell if this new take on the King novel is going to be made or not.
For sure in the making is a remake to the 1922 silent classic Nosferatu! Now, this is something that too was once already remade when in 1979 Nosferatu: The Vampire hit theaters with now Klaus Kinski in the role once played by Max Schreck. This I am personally interested in and a bit curious about how this will be carried out. The 1922 silent is an absolute classic masterpiece and the 1979 remake is very good in its own right. Let’s see how they handle this coming film in our CGI, woke, Me-Too world we all live in now.
Okay, I can’t see this working….but The Lost Boys is going to get the remake treatment too. Oh F..king god help us now! Like its 80’s contemporary Fright Night itself went through its own remake tragedy, now someone thinks they can recapture the magic that was the ‘87 vampire classic. Now to be fair, the Fright Night remake actually was not bad…and in fact, if the 1985 movie never existed, then it may have gone over better with fans. But let’s just face it, the remake just didn’t have that magic spark that the 80’s film had. I fear the same for The Lost Boys. Hey it may be really good but can it hold up to the ‘87 movie of the same name?
Okay, I think we are done with Michael Myers for at least a few years…until that’s remade, rebooted reimagine, or whatever that mess was of Halloween Ends or Zombies Halloween 2 but good news is on the way. After 13 years, Jason is making his big comeback! That’s right, the slasher master is back with its 13th movie outing. The masked one has not been seen since the 2010’s remake that itself never got a follow-up, but after being in production hell for years, Jason Voorhees is, at last, coming back. Not sure yet when his killing spree starts, but you can bet when it does blood will flow.
There is also a planned return of Freddy for yet again a remaking of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Like with Jason, Freddy has not been seen since 2010, and would be great to see the gloved one back in action after so long….plus would be nice to see Freddy actor Robert Englund return to his most iconic role.
