Blood Notes
                              By Publisher AL J. Vermette

Welcome back to the Magazine For All Things Horror and our 9th Anniversary Issue
#38.  Hard to believe that we are only one more issue away from our 40th issue.
Over the nine years that we have brought you this publication, many things have
changed yet most of it stayed the same.  Our publishing format may have changed
from being a printed magazine to becoming digital the last two years but for the most
part the departments, staff and main content of this publication has remained the
same as it was when we first debuted this magazine in June 2000.  As we now head
into our 10th year and soon begin a new decade of publishing this magazine and its
two spin offs “The Horror Writer” & “Werewolf Magazine”, I would like to thank our
readers who have be with us for all these years, some of you from the very
beginning.  Also making this magazine what it is, is the best damn staff writers and
artists any publisher can hope to have.  Most of been with me since the very start of
this magazine project and all of them make this magazine what it is and for that I
thank you all D.W. Jones, Eric S. Brown, Robert Freese, Sam Wallace, Sandy Reece,
Dark Soul, William Pratt and with me from the very start my editor and partner
Shoshana Strier.  Nine years guys wow! .....And I would like to thank our readers.....
our Legion for being with us all these years and as we head into the future we are
thrilled to bring you the best in horror for the next decade  to come.

This past March 28th for any of our Legion who live in or near our home base of New
York, many of you got to be part of our event “The Institute of Horror Fantasy &
Science Fiction” held once again at the Queens Flushing Library at 41-17 Main St.
Flushing NY.  This now being our 2nd Institute was a smash hit with fans, readers
and artist alike and was presented by BMRs sister publication “The Horror Writer.”
The event had nine book readers by genre authors along with an art gallery, film
showing and Q&A panels.  The films shown were Part one from the new TV series
“Zombie Hunters: City of The Dead” with the zombie hunters being part of our
Q&A's.  Also the fantasy short film “Lucan: The Defender” directed by Thomas
Bender and based on my book series  “Lucan” played to rave cheers from the fans.
We also had Vinnie Vlado the creator of the TV series “Sci/Fi Ninja Theater” on hand
to film the event for an up coming episode.  We also showed portions of “Sci/Fi Ninja
Theater” as part of the event as well. Check out our coverage of the event in this
issue.

For any of you who attended my writers workshop last summer or if you missed it you
can come and be part of it again this year.  Once again at the Queens Flushing
Library I will be doing my “Writing & Publishing Workshops” on September 14, 21&
28th 2009 from 6pm to 7pm in the library’s lower level lecture room.  The workshops
are free to all and for anyone attending they will get their work published on our main
web site giving even the un-published writer his or her first shot at being a published
writer.  See you at my classes.

This October 24th is once again Blood Fest day as “Blood Moon Rising” will present
“Blood Fest 6: Horror Show & Rock Party” and hosted by BMRs very own Dark Soul.
Held at our new haunt The Queens Flushing Library home of yes, The Institute and
Writing workshop.  This place loves us and its program director Gina Fazio is a huge
horror fan herself and its so good working with such a kindred spirit as she.  This will
be the 2nd Blood Fest show held there and this one will be even bigger then last
years show.  The show is free to all and I want to see as many zombies, werewolves,
vampires and ghosts as we can fit into the library’s 200 plus seated theater.  Yeah
this place is BIG!  Blood Fest 6 will feature as always short horror films, live rock
bands, costume and scream contests.  So be there if you dare......or we will come
looking for you!
